April 7th 2009 started off great for the birth of Joshua Lundeberg!
Mommy went in to be induced at 7:30 a.m. (as the Dr. could not trust
her to make it to the hospital in time if she started labor on her own!)
After 6 1/2 months of contractions, 4 months of bed rest, and baby Joshy down in the birth canal for over 2 months....it was time! The incubator had done her duty!
At 4:47 p.m. Joshua was born. He got a 9 on his Apgar score and he laid squirming on his mommy's chest for a moment or two.....until Dr. Moreland lifted her head up and listened to him breathing......she then asked him nicely to stop "grunting" with every breath. He couldn't. At that point the Dr. had to take him over to the baby care area of the room, and several people began working on him. There was much pounding on the back, turning him over and over, and tubes going down Joshua's throat to get out fluid. He had swallowed a large amount of amniotic fluid, and with each moment that went by, it became harder for him to breathe.
They did take a moment to weigh and measure him though!
JOSHUA SHELDON LUNDEBERG
6 lbs. 12 oz.
19 inches
He is beautiful!
