As everyone knows by now, we have had sewer main woes at our house the last few weeks. We are grateful to be home again now! Here is a brief synopsis of the past 2 1/2 weeks: friday, toilet explodes (okay, not literally, but "stuff" did come forcefully out of the toilet!--as a service, I did not take any photos! LOL!) and I called a friend who does plumbing to come check it out for us; it's not good. Main is clogged and requires an auger. We decided to stay that night at a hotel so they could get it taken care of. Saturday, it didn't work; they need a bigger auger. Bonus: they can't find the sewer clean-out cap that should be right in front of the house. This requires that a 4 ft. x 4 ft. x 4 ft. hole be dug to put one in! (Thanks, Kris' running buddies!) This reveals that the main is clogged with roots and a portion has even colapsed! Bring in the back-hoe! We have to wait several days for Blue Stakes to notify necessary utilities to come mark the front yard, then get a big trench (roughly 30 ft. long x 3 ft. wide x 6 ft. deep!). 25 ft. of old clay main is replaced and we get to come home! Thanks, again, to running buddies for getting a bobcat to fill it all back in! We have been greatly blessed! The bathroom remodel is underway (when it's done, I'll upload 'before' and 'after' photos!), and--most exciting--the toilet flushes!!! Here is the process in photos:

Wow. Not a fun thing to be fixed, yet such a necessity. I bet the kids thought the construction equipment were cool! I am glad to hear you are back home. You have had your fair share of excitement. I hope it starts to quiet down a bit.
