What a wonderful day! Joshua is now breathing on his own....room air....and doing fairly well with it. His oxygen saturation goes down sometimes, especially while nursing, but he brings it back to where it needs to be! This is so great, and we are so proud of him!! Medically, this little boy has accomplished more milestones in 4 days than they thought he could do in 10 or more! We are grateful for such blessings. He has truly been blessed by our Heavenly Father and we know that angels are around him constantly....comforting him and urging him to keep fighting! It is a difficult road, to always fight to breathe, but Joshy is strong and WILL make it!
This has been a wonderful day for Joshua's Mimi too! I FINALLY got to hold him!! He is absolutely precious. I know I am just a grandma, but it felt so good to have him in my arms for a few moments. Look at the picture of us....ok, I'm sorry you have to see me, but...look how he looks so deeply at me! He does this to everyone perhaps, but I felt such a connection with him. A spiritual one perhaps... I am so grateful to have this little warrior for a grandson.
One last note...as you look at the pictures and wonder if that green blanket is making him look yellow...well it doesn't help, but Joshua's bilirubin IS back up! Yes, he is jaundiced. But the nurses are going to see if he can get rid of it himself, and he is not going back on the lights for now.
Wow, Rachael sure looks AMAZING! She couldn't possibly have just had a baby! I'm so glad he's breathing on his own.
ReplyDeleteSo inspirational. Rach looks WONDERFUL! (Just sickening! :)) You look wonderful too Bea. I think little Joshua does know you. We are so proud too that he is breathing on his own. What a huge milestone. Sorry about the jaundice though. Keep posting.
